In one of his speeches, the leader of the Communist Party in Poland, Wladyslaw Gomulka said that the Party is against any form of Anti-Semitism, but it cannot accept and will fight Zionism as Jewish Nationalism. This rhetoric has had its continuation in action against the local Jews. This presentation will explore the anti-Zionist tensions in Poland under the communist regime as part of a wider tendency in Central Europe (Soviet bloc countries). The consequences of the Anti-Zionist Campaign will be discussed as well, including the recent commemoration of 50th Anniversary of March ’68 in Poland.
