About 3 million people own licensed guns in SA, while probably the same number of guns remain unlicensed. An illegal AK47 can be bought for R1600 (an Xbox console costs R4000). With high profile cases like Oscar Pistorius and the school shootings in the USA, many people argue that we should outlaw all firearms. What does Judaism say about gun control? In this session, we will look at classical texts and discuss how to interpret them in today’s contemporary world.
